Painting: conte crayon, oil & mixed media
Emily Stordahl lived in the northwest, Oregon and Washington, for most of her life. The landscapes of the Pacific Northwest inspired paintings of mountains and other scenes from Washington state.
Her professional mid-life career change began by earning a graduate degree in Art Therapy Counseling from Marylhurst College. Emily is a semi-retired Registered Art Therapist (ATR) and Licensed Mental Health Counselor who primarily worked with children, adolescents and their families in her practice. Emily was a School Counselor in Oregon at the time of her retirement.
The Gesture Drawing, from a life drawing class, is done in conte crayon. The Skagit Valley Tulip field picture is done in oil. The third painting, ‘Cascadian Subduction’, is an abstract, mixed media painting of Mt. Rainier.
